Lisin Metallurgical Services is a full service metallurgical consulting firm specializing in failure analysis and materials consulting based in Milwaukie (Portland), Oregon.  Lisin Metallurgical Services was established in 2000 and currently supports over 700 clients across a broad variety of industries.

Mark Lisin has operated Lisin Metallurgical Services since the year 2000.  In that time the company has grown to four professionals dedicated to providing top quality failure analysis services in a timely manner and at a competitive rate.  Mark earned a Bachelors of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University and a Masters Degree in Metallurgy from the Colorado School of Mines. Mr Lisin's work experience prior to forming Lisin Metallurgical Services includes Westinghouse Electric Corp., San Diego Gas and Electric, and Precision Castparts Corp.  Mark is a registered PE with the State of Oregon.   He is the father of four kids whom he is acitvely recruiting for careers in Engineering.  Mark likes to ski, mountain bike, camp, drink beer, and fish for steelhead in the local rivers.

Mat joined Lisin Metallurgical Services in August of 2012.  He is the technical operator of the saws as well as the metallographer.  He has extensive experience with light microscopy as well as scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis.  


Mat has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Michael graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2007 and is a Metallurgical PE in Oregon.  He joined Lisin Metallurgical in 2014 after supporting Chinook drivetrain parts production at Columbia Helicopters.  Michael’s technical work is centered on ferrous metallurgy, heat treatment troubleshooting, corrosion, reverse engineering, power generation, infrastructure, and rotating equipment, but he enjoys the full variety of projects that come through the door.  Outside of work, he enjoys exploring nature with his family, reading, swimming, and has been known to pull a prank or two.

Failure Analysis

Jennifer has been with Lisin Metallurgical Services since 2005.  Jennifer serves as General Manager and failure analyst at Lisin Metallurgical.  She has more than 15 years of experience in scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive x-ray analysis, light microscopy, metallography, etc..  When not working, Jennifer enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Jason graduated with a Bachelors in Physics from the University of California, San Diego in 2005 and joined Lisin Metallurgical Services in 2016.  He has broad experience with magnetic design, lithography and excimer lasers, cryogenics, and product design and testing.  Prior to joining Lisin Metallurgical, he worked as a Sr. Researcher in Leatherman Tool’s advanced design division.


In his spare time, Jason enjoys restoring vintage Volvos and VW’s, photography, fly fishing, Oregon wines, mountain biking and running, and camping and hiking with his wife Kim and his two daughters.


Cory graduated from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo in 2017 with a Bachelors of Science in Materials Engineering.  In 2018 he joined Lisin Metallurgical and serves as a metallurgist/ failure analyst. 


His interests include metallographic preparation of precious metals and examination of welds in aluminum alloys.  In his free time Cory enjoys riding and wrenching on bicycles as well as sewing and exploring outdoors with his family.
